Clothes in Japanese
For today’s blog, let's talk about different types of
clothes in Japanese.
In Japan, there are
two types of clothing: わふく
(和服 /
Wafuku) is the traditional clothing, and ようふく (洋服 / Youfuku) is western clothing.
きもの (着物 / Kimono) is the national dress
of Japan. ゆかた
(浴衣 /
Yukata) is an informal type of Kimono worn in casual events like summer
festivals. ゆかた
means bathrobe and wore in bathhouses.
I will not be going
to discuss わふく
as I am not familiar with Japan’s
traditional clothing except for Kimono and Yukata.
